Guide to Interboot 2022 electric boat exhibitors
The Interboot show takes place this week – until Sunday, September 25 – in Friedrichsafen on Lake Constance, the 63 kilometres stretch of water that borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The event takes in the entire spectrum of water sports and will host 350+ exhibitors in six halls, with on-water demonstrations both indoors and outdoors on the lake itself. There is also a ‘Green Area’ that showcases sustainable boating ideas, offers and presentations.
While most of the other boat shows in Europe take place in coastal areas, the boat segment of Interboot is somewhat different owing to the show being situated on an inland lake. There is definitely more of a focus on inland rather than purely open water vessels, and that is true of the electric boat section as well.
Delphia
Delphia has been designated as the electric boat brand of Groupe Benneteau, committing to having all of its inland yachts available in 100% electric propulsion by 2024. In May of this year they started the ball rolling with the all-electric Delphia 11 and then three weeks ago unveiled the Delphia 10 at the HISWA Boat Show in Rotterdam.
The Delphia 10 was designed in collaboration with Vripack Yacht Design and will be available in three versions. The Lounge and Sedan available now, with a Lounge Top model to be unveiled in November.
Portless Catamarans
Portless Catamarans from Hungary will be showcasing their two-level double hull houseboat that comes in four parts which are zipped together in ten minutes so up to six people can get out enjoying the water. The Portless 14 weighs 120 kilograms (264 pounds) and is driven by a 1 kW electric outboard engine with li-ion battery that gives it a range of up to 30 kilometers (48 miles) at about seven kilometers (11 miles) per hour.
Greenline Yachts
Also at Interboot is Greenline Yachts, one of the pioneers of electric boating who revolutionized the boating industry with the introduction of the first hybrid boat in 2008. The Greenline 39 is a perfect boat for extended trips on inland lakes and rivers but can also handle open water.
On the accessories side of things, FLIN solar from Kiel, Germany, is showing a diverse range of products, from solar sails to flexible solar mats, and walkable solar floor panels. One of the most intriguing new products is their double-sided solar modules that can be attached to a railing (FLINrail+) or drawn up the mast of a sailing yacht one after the other (FLINkite+). The panels can also be tilted to best catch the sun’s rays.
Virtue Yachts
Newly founded Polish motorboat-builders Virtue Yachts presenting their all-new Virtue V10 at Interboot, a recreational boat in the 10-meter (30-foot) range. The V10 incorporates the patented Petestep hull technology that increases planing efficiency and is taking full advantage of it with Evoy high power electric outboards.
Elwood Boats
Elwood boats of Finland makes lovingly crafted wooden electric boats based on traditional styles but with a very modern and contemporary feel. The Elwood 550e HT was launched last year and the growing company now has a full range up to the 950e, a full on travel boat with two sleeping cabins and a usable inner bunk.
Alveus Bootsbau
In the Green Area, you can see the work of Alveus Bootsbau, a German boat restoration workshop that has refurbished an English coastal dinghy Drescombe Henley originally built in 1991 as a prototype of a solar racing boat. Hilmar Dembler-Malik of Alveus has outfitted the boat with a 2 kW Torpedo Cruise 2.0 electric motor and batteries charged by an adjustable solar roof.
