Chameleon e-boat has multiple configurations

Gloss Design, an Italian firm that specializes in luxury yachts and other transportation devices like motorbikes and electric trucks, has unveiled their first electric boat, the EUVES 31 – Efficient Utility VESsel.

In order to appeal to the broadest number of markets and boat buyers, one of the main goals in finalizing the design was coming up with one standard hull that can be easily customized. The 9.5m / 31ft catamaran hull can be configured and powered in a variety of ways to suit a variety of purposes, from an all electric luxury day cruise to a hybrid dive boat to a cargo boat or watertaxi for 12 to 20 passengers. The company refers to it as being ‘chameleon-like’.

On their facebook page they show off the wetbar and barbecue area as well as the luxe main dining space. There is another post showing how it has also been designed to be fully wheelchair accessible.

On graduation he started working with auto designers like Pininfarina and the IDeA Institute and his firm continues to work with BMW and AUDI in the modelling of both concept cars and production vehicles.

On the marine side, Gloss Yachts boasts an extremely impressive portfolio, having taken part in the creation of over 25 vessels between 6m and 60m long (20ft – 200ft) and covering everything from fast sport boats to coast patrol boats and ferries.

Like many designers – both of high end yachts and smaller recreational boats – Gloss is starting to receive inquiries about greener types of craft which started them working on the EUVES concept.

The full electric version can accommodate anything from twin 15kW to twin 100kW motors. The maximum and cruise speeds obviously depend on which motors have been configured, but the range is from 15kts – 35kts for top speed and 12-18 for cruising.

You can find out more about the EUVES 31 on the Gloss Design website or facebook page.
