Electric Delphia 10 Lounge to debut at Boot Dusseldorf
Delphia Yachts continues to expand their selection of ‘mindful cruising’ boats with the all-electric Delphia 10 Lounge, the third model in their Delphia 10 line.
Delphia was first established 30 years ago in Poland in the heart of the Masurian Lake District, surrounded by inland waters and an endless network of canals. It has been a pioneer in the production of custom-designed boats since then, and was purchased in 2018 by Groupe Beneteau, who announced in late 2021 that Delphi would be the brand to “address the inland navigation segment with an offer of electric boats”.
First electric Delphia launched in May ’22
In May of this year they launched their first all-electric model, the Delphia 11, which was followed in early September by the Delphia 10 Sedan and Lounge Top models. The new Lounge model completes the trio with an open boat design that enhances the daycruising experience but also has a fully functional lower deck for overnight stays.
The Dutch naval architecture and design firm VriPack developed an optimized hull for the model line to maximize electric propulsion capabilities, and all three boats sport distinctive curves that set them apart from the boxy form some associate with cruisers.
Delphia’s long experience building inland cruisers has enjoyed increased international presence with Groupe Beneteau’s support, and is committed to an important milestone. In 2024 Delphia will make a giant step towards creating a greener environment, by replacing internal combustion engines and going 100% electric.
Its philosophy and mantra for this all-electric future is ‘mindful cruising’. It is described by Brand Director Martin Schemkes:
“We believe that deceleration is key to meaningful and relaxing cruises on inland waterways. That’s why we give owners and passengers alike the possibility to enjoy moments of pleasure – on boats crafted with comfort, convenience and ease. Where sustainable product solutions enable you to mindfully harmonize with nature and your loved ones.”
A big part of achieving that philosophy can be seen and felt in the design of the boats.
For daycruising on inland waters, the Delphia 10 Lounge has been created to be intimate enough for one person or couple to enjoy a quiet interlude on the water or spacious enough to celebrate the company of friends and family.
The fully open cockpit allows 12 seating configurations for pilot and passengers to fully enjoy being outside and on the water. There is a wet bar with two fridges for the ‘chef of the moment’ to prepare basic meals and for everyone to enjoy chilled drinks. If the weather turns bad, the cockpit can be completely enclosed.
Down below is a perfect set-up for a night onboard when the evening trip goes a little further. The spacious interior with bathroom can accommodate up to 4 sleeping berths. It can could also be partially configured as a ‘working day boat’ with desk and office space.
The Delphia 10 Lounge is fitted with Torqeedo’s Deep Blue 50kW (≈80HP) electric drive system, supplied by 360V high capacity lithium batteries with a total energy storage capacity of 80 kiloWatt hours. It is designed not only for powerful and quiet electric propulsion, but also for ease of use, with an onboard monitoring system and intuitive display.
Shore power chargers take the system from 20% to full in just less than 8 hours, and from 40% to 80% in about three hours– time for enjoying an onshore lunch!
Beyond doing their part to reduce carbon emissions (and enhance the boating experience) with electric propulsion, Delphia is also committed to sustainability in other areas.
Fabrics are made from recycled materials wherever possible and recyclable synthetic decking is used. When real wood is required, the balsa is sourced from sustainable plantations, responsibly managed with eco-friendly harvesting and processing. The wood for onboard furniture comes from certified forests, allowing Delphia to have full supervision of the supply chain and ensure product traceability.
The world premiere of the Delphia 10 Lounge takes place at Boot Düsseldorf January 21-29. It can be viewed at Hall 1, Stand B/16.
