Call for entries: new e-Regatta in Venice 2020
A new electric boat e-Regata in Venice has been announced to take place during the city’s 2nd International Boat Show being held in June at the historic Arsenale shipyard.
The e-Regata initiative is a joint venture of the international association VeniceAgenda2028 and the two Venice organizations Assonautica Venezia and Venti di Cultura, under the aegis of Inland Waterways International and supported by Triumph Group International for sponsorships and communications.
VeniceAgenda2028 was founded by Kevin Desmond, the author of Electric Boats and Ships: A History. Initially a petition for the electrification of all boat traffic in the Venice canals, VeniceAgenda2028 is now an integral component of the city’s annual Boat Show in the Arsenale dockyards, organized by Vela. The Italian Powerboat Federation (FIM) is partner of the event for logistics, managing the competition and scoring. (PS: why not click here and sign the Venice Agenda2028 petition?)
Contact Kevin Desmond for entry details
Mr. Desmond is requesting all interested electric boat and/or electric boat motor manufacturers to contact him for details. The event is open to all forms of electric boat: battery, fuel cell, solar and for boats of any size, motor power and electric storage capacity.
You can email him directly or download this entry form and fill out the necessary information.
All competitors will be given a stand in the ‘Electric Village’ launched at last year’s Show, where a conference on electric boating was held as well as a showcase of various electric boat and motors manufacturers.
The e-Regata encompasses a number of events and competitors will vie for a prize purse (amount to be announced) and the inaugural Murano Trophy. Every competitor will receive a special parchment scroll with the seal of the City of Venice for display in their office and website.
More e-Regatas planned around Europe
With the participation of these key organizations, the Venice e-Regata has the promise to become the most important international electric boating event held thus far. In lead up and preparation for the Venice event Jun2 -7, additional e-Regatas are being organised for the month of May on several European lakes including Germany’s Lake Starnberg, Lake Balaton in Hungary, Lake Geneva – shared by France and Switzerland, and Italy’s Lake Como and Lake Bracciano.
