Seerhein, Hitzler Kreuzer, Baujahr 1911
Hitzlerwerft Hamburg • Germany
The ship was built in 1911 and has a historically valuable history. It was built in the Hitzler shipyard in Hamburg. The restoration lasted from 2020-2023. In order to meet the world’s strictest emission regulations on Lake Constance and to increase attractiveness, it was decided to replace the drive with a steam engine combined with an electric drive. The steam is generated with the energy source wood. The electric drive, in turn, is powered by a battery pack fed by the steam generator. This makes it the first Co2-neutral steam-electric hybrid ship in Switzerland, possibly in the world.
