Guide to Salon Nautic Paris Electric Boats Exhibitors 2021
With the 60th edition of the Paris Boat Show off and running, Plugboats has put together this guide to Salon Nautic Paris electric boats exhibitors to make it a little easier to find the companies that will be demonstrating the latest in electric propulsion at the show.

France’s ‘Electric Boat Of The Year competition
The Nautic Salon has had a good electric boats presence for many years, due in part to the work and strength of France’s electric boat association, the AFBE (Association Français pour le Bateua Electrique).
One of the initiatives of the AFBE is the “Electric Boat of The Year” competition, which concentrates on the recreational e-boat sector and is open to any manufacturer with an electrically propelled boat or watercraft with a capacity of up to 12 people. They must be available in France, be CE certified or in the process of CE certification and meet the ISO 16315 standard for electric propulsion systems.
The award is voted on by the public (30%) and the AFBE jury (70%) taking into consideration qualities such as the aesthetics, energy efficiency, performance and company commitment to development of the electric boat industry. The winner will be announced on Thursday, 9 December, at the AFBE booth.
Another highlight for Salon Nautic Paris electric boats and boating enthusiasts is the Innovation Contest, launched in 2017 in coordination with the French Marine Leisure Industry Federation to encourage and promote innovative products and services in the marine leisure sector. The competition is open to any size company that has introduced an innovation for inland or open waters.
Electric boats and motors up for Innovation Award
Solar boat rental service SeaZen was the Innovation winner in last year’s virtual Salon, and President Guillaume Jacquet-Lagreze is one of this year’s judges. The short list of 17 finalists (from 48 initial entries) includes 5 electric boat or electric boat related entries:
The ARMEN Initiative has created 100% recyclable boats made of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), an industrial plastic material used in water treatment. They have 3 boats in their model range – 500, e700, h2900 – all of which are designed with electric or hydrogen propulsion as an option. The e700 is the first French boat equipped with the Gale Force 150HP propulsion system by Norway’s Evoy.
An innovative option for boaters who want to go electric but still need to keep some of the power and range capabilities of internal combustion comes from BlueNav, whose BlueSpin system creates a hybrid boat by adding electric propulsion without any structural modification. With the push of a button rim electric motors (either outboard or inboard) can be extended or retracted as required to take over from fossil fuel propulsion.
The FinX is an electric motor inspired by the movement of the fish fins. The undulating membrane replaces the spinning propeller of a traditional motor and is an extension of similarly constructed pumps used in industry and for human heart assistance. The FinX 2kW motor is protected by 15 international patents.
The RIM6 from Hy-Generation is the first 100% French-made electric thruster with one of its key features being self-adjusting propeller blades that find the ideal pitch on their own, reacting to hydrodynamic forces as the boat moves through the water.
The Overboat is an electric hydrofoiling personal watercraft from with catamaran pontoons. Developed by Neocean working with the University of Montpellier and others, it incorporates electronically self-regulating foils and is powered by a 4.5kW motor with 48V, 70Ah (3.36kWh) battery pack that can provide up to 2 hours of use at 11 knots.
