Founder and GM Robert Varness’ goal was to design and build environmentally friendly commercial boats to enjoy the pristine Alaskan waters with the 1M+ tourists that visit Juneau annually. In 2014 TREC commissioned naval architect Scott Jutson to design the MV Tongass Rain. She is a 50 foot 47-passenger 3-crew displacement catamaran, specifically designed to quietly cruise at 7 knots without fossil fuels. This eco vessel is unique, with a traditional but distinctive look and she is propelled with twin electric marine motors.
Tongass Rain Electric Cruise also sells Torqeedo electric motors, lithium ion batteries and solar charging systems. We offer all models of Torqeedo products. From kayaks to cruisers, we’ve got you covered and with built in GPS technology.
