Guide to Cannes Electric Boat Exhibitors 2022
All boating eyes are on the Cote d’Azure this week for the first show of the boating season and there are more Cannes electric boat exhibitors this year than ever before.
Plugboats has gone through the full exhibitors list of about 575 companies and picked out the electric yachts, RIBs, tenders, foiling boards, electric motors and prsent them to you in this guide.
While the 40 or so e-boat companies is still well short of even 10% of all the exhibitors, it still shows that electric boats and boating is on the rise – in all categories, lengths and styles of vessels.
We have picked out a few highlights we know of and presented them in alphabetical order with short descriptions.
After that, at the bottom of this page, there is a tiled Directory of all the electric boat and motor companies at Cannes this week.

Candela:
The Candela 8 and a permanent showroom in Cannes
Candela will be showing off their Candela 8 at the Cannes Yachting Festival and September also marks the start of a permanent Candela presence in Cannes, through a partnership with leading recreational boat reseller Sud Plaisance. After the Festival, the Candela C-8 will be displayed at Candela/Sud Plaisance showroom.
Since launching the C8 last fall, over 150 of the electric hydrofoiling boats have already been sold, with deliveries starting later this year. A few weeks ago Candela and Polestar announced that the EV maker will supply batteries for future Candela boats, giving Candela access to state-of-the-art battery technology, and the ability to ramp up production of the C-8 and the company’s commercial passenger hydrofoilers.

Evoy
The Goldfish X9 RIB and a new electric Iguana foiling amphibious boat
Cannes offers two opportunities to see the remarkable progress of Evoy, the Norwegian electric motor company.
Debuting at Cannes is the new Iguana Foiler, a foiling amphibious boat powered by an Evoy 300-hp electric outboard. With its retractable foils and tracks, the new Iguana will be able to go on land, sea and, flying a few feet above the surface, on air also.
Also at the show is the electric Goldfish X9 – the Evoy Explorer, which draws on the boat manufacturer’s experience engineering craft for the Military and is fitted with Evoy’s 400+ HP inboard system and two battery packs. The result? A top speed of 62 knots.
Faro
The Faro 5 electric wooden runabout inspired by the 1920s
The Faro Portuguese boatyard is showcasing this neo-retro design that combines materials like distinctive cryptomeria wood with a solar panelled roof and the option of an autonomous charging station powered by solar energy. The boat can be delivered with different engine packages, the main ones being supplied by the innovative Rim drive of Rimdrive Technology in the Netherlands.
Seabubbles
New model of the hydrogen hydrofoil water taxi
The hydrofoiling Seabubble has been turning heads and making news (but not waves) since it was founded in 2016. The goal is nothing less than to revolutionize and decarbonize urban water transport. After some pandemic setbacks, Seabubbles was acquired by MediaApps Innovations and is now unveiling its latest iteration. The company promises that the passenger carrying ability is bigger, the autonomy is longer and the recharging time is shorter.
Soel Yachts
First look at the Soel Senses 82 solar electric catamaran
Soel Yachts will officially release the teaser for the Soel Senses 82 at Cannes. She is the bigger sister of the Soel Senses 62 and offers an impressive 29 kWp solar array with a powerful solar electric propulsion system for world cruising.

Sunreef Yachts
Official debut of the all-electric Sunreef 80 Eco
The Sunreef 80 Eco is an eco-responsible luxury craft combining electric propulsion, superyacht living spaces, reliable sailing performance and the latest green technologies in the industry. Her standout features include a patented composite-integrated solar power system with cells built into the catamaran’s hulls, superstructure, bimini and mast. The award-winning electric 80-footer is also able to generate green energy while under sail, thanks to a modern hydrogeneration system.
SIlent-Yachts
Silent 60 with kite wing and world premiere of the Silent Tender
Silent-Yachts has their brand new Front Master version on display at CYF22, complete with their kite wing with dynamic figure 8 pattern that delivers up to 10 x more power per square meter than a conventional sail. They will also be premiering the Silent Tender, which marks the start of an upcoming range of fully electric SILENT tenders. Three’s a charm, and Silent-Yachts will also have the VisionF 80 at the show, which is the precursor to their SILENT VisionF 82 – a SILENT catamaran with hybrid propulsion, which is still under construction.

Torqeedo
Demonstrates 100 kW inboard drives and other motors with a variety of e-boat builders
The Torqeedo Deep Blue100i 2500 was designed and constructed to power fast planing motorboats, while the Deep Blue 100i 900 is suitable for yachts up to 120 feet long, displacement boats and commercial vessels. At Cannes, a wide range of Torqeedos are on display with different boats and manufacturers.
Nimbus Boats
Nimbus launched heir first electric boats in 2009 and have had an electric powertrain as an option for three of three of boat models since 2015. Their all-electric 305 Drophead exhibiting at Cannes is a 10-meter weekend cruiser with a Torqeedo Deep Blue 50i system with Nimbus’ ultra-efficient Smart Speed concept hull. It effectively has no real planing threshold, making for low energy consumption at all speeds.
Frauscher
The Deep Blue 100i powers Frauscher’s Mirage 740 Air which will be on display for the first time at Cannes. An almost 8-metre daycruiser, the 740 Mirage Air has two different motor and battery options and can offer a maximum range of 110 km (68 miles) at cruising speed.
Zodiac
Zodiac will display their electric RIB lineup at CYF22. The eOPEN models are powered by Cruise motors and Power batteries. The 3.4-meter eOPEN has a ten-hour range at 5 knots and serves as the perfect tender or exploration platform for a zero-impact day on the water.

Orphie
The Orphie 29 is an ultra-efficient trimaran built for Deep Blue 100% electric propulsion. The Orphie 29 delivers a pleasant cruising speed of 8-12 knots. In addition, the ability to reach 17-20 knots in a short period of time makes the boat fun and very reassuring in heavy seas.
Whisper-Yachts
An immersive virtual tour of the solar-electric Whisper 50 can be viewed at stand QML195 in Cannes. Whisper is a range of solar-electric motor-yachts from 40 ft to 60ft which combine autonomy (unlimited at 5-6kn), performance (top speed of 18kn) and luxury outfitting. Naval architecture and design are by the renowned Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design.
VITA
New 10.5m Lion and 7m Seal
The 10.5 metre Lion is Vita’s first premium full-production electric boat. The V4 propulsion system delivers a cruising speed of 22 knots and top speed of over 35 knots. She incorporates proprietary throttle and touchscreen technology and has a 1 hour charging time. Vita will also be showing the Seal (shown here), a smaller (7m / 23 ft) model designed as an everyday utilitarian boat for both commercial and recreational use.
